
Laura Hancharuk
Director, Fit ‘N Firm Challenge
Laura Hancharuk has a degree in Physical Education and Exercise Sciences from the University of Alberta, and is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Applied Sport Science through the University of Queensland. Laura is certified as a Certified Exercise Physiologist, AFLCA Trainer of Fitness Leaders, and is a Course Conductor for the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology’s Health and Fitness Program.
Laura has worked as a personal trainer for 17 years, and has lectured extensively throughout Alberta and British Columbia as a motivational speaker and educator on health and fitness related topics.
Laura has been teaching for the Department of Physical Education, Athletics & Kinesiology at Grande Prairie Regional College since 1994. She is also the advisor for GPRC’s Fitness Leadership Diploma Program, a program which she helped to develop in 1998. In addition, Laura has been the Director of GPRC’s Be Fit For Life Centre since 1995.
Laura is currently in her second term as the Chairperson for the Alberta CSEP Health & Fitness Program Board. She is also in her second term on the National Executive Board for CSEP’s Health & Fitness Program. Laura is a strong advocate for ensuring that we have professional certified fitness professionals in Canada.
On a personal note, Laura is married, with two young children. Teaching others about fitness is her second passion, spending time with her family is her first!
