Course Location and Description

The course is located at the Wapiti Nordic Ski Centre which is approximately 8 km south of Grande Prairie Regional College on Hwy 40.

The start-finish area is in the Biathlon Stadium. A large building is available pre and post race for warm-up, storage, and cool down. No change rooms are on-site.

The course will consist of a 3 km loop with a cut-off for a 2 km loop. The women will run 5 km (a 2 km loop followed by a 3 km loop) and the men will run 8 km (a 2 km loop followed by two 3 km loops.) The surface consists of grass, sand, and mud suitable for 9 mm spikes. While most trails are 3 - 5 metres wide, there are a few "single track" sections. The course is a challenging mix of approximately 1/3 uphill, 1/3 downhill and 1/3 sort of flat.

In the event of a significant snowfall, the course will be altered.

A block of rooms has been reserved until October 20 (extension of this date currently under negotiation) at the host hotel under the name “CCAA Cross Country Running Championships.” When you call the hotel to book, you will need to provide a credit card number to hold the rooms.

Shuttle:

Shuttle service to and from the airport will be available upon request.

Accreditation / Registration

Accreditation will take place at the host hotel on Friday upon arrival. The accreditation fee of $50 per participant can be paid prior to the event and/or in person during accreditation. This fee will include the pasta dinner on Friday and the banquet on Saturday. Please make cheques payable to Grande Prairie Regional College.
