Benson and Woodland win again. Men's team Place 3rd.

Grant MacEwan University Hosted ACAC Grand Prix # 4 at Goldstick Park in Edmonton on Saturday October 1st. It was also race # 3 in the Saucony Run Alberta XC series. The course is known as one of the tougher cross-country courses in the Province. The women’s 5km event was won by Shari Boyle (18:56) Calgary International Track Club, 2nd was Ciara Kary (19:33) (University of Calgary Athletic Club) and third was GPRC’s Fiona Benson (20:34). Benson’s time was 30 seconds better than the next ACAC runner giving her her second win in two appearances in the ACAC Grand Prix series. Other wolves ACAC 5km finishers were Jessica Elliot 8th (23:17) Gabrielle Boulet 30th (26:15), Amanda Matier 33rd (26:55), Liz MacGregor 38th (23:42) and Carly Pura 40th (29:49). In team scoring the Wolves placed 4th in ACAC.

Jenny Kleininger from St Joseph’s High School finished in a time of 23:00 for 12th place overall in the women’s race.

Devin Woodland led the Wolves in the men’s 8km event finishing 5th overall in a time of 29:36. The race was won by former ACAC Champion Kip Kangogo (26:23), followed Ed Kangogo (28:04), and third was Dylan Hackenbrook (28:24). Woodland was 1st of the ACAC runners and also earned his second victory of the year in the ACAC Grand Prix. Other Wolves finishers were Kyle Ross 8th (31:30), Logan Boehmer 14th (32:45), Eric Martinek 19th (33:28), Phil Legare-Stokes 33rd (36:13), Evan Paul 38th (36:38), Taylor Chateau 48th (39:08) Mitchell Bagget 55th(42:50) and Donald Meurs 56th (43:01). The men’s team placed 3rd in the ACAC team competition with 42 points behind 2nd place Augustana with 32 points and 1st place Grant MacEwan University with 30 points.

St Joseph’s Troy Bogh finished 26th overall in the Men’s race with a time of 33:11

Next up for the Wolves will be the ACAC Grand Prix # 5 hosted by Augustana in Camrose on October 17th. The ACAC championships are on October 30th also hosted by Grant MacEwan University at Goldstick Park.
